Master Letter Sounds at Home with This Easy Letter Tracing Resource

Letter tracing is a fun and simple way to incorporate handwriting into your journey of learning letters! I have created a free resource you can use at home to support your child’s learning journey!

When you are finished reading, head over to my TPT store to download your copy! It is free to create an account, then you can access your downloads at any time and check out some of my other free resources!

When you print out your letter tracing worksheets, have your child trace the letters with either a pencil or a marker. Say the letter sound out loud as your child is tracing the letter that you are focusing on for the week! If they are having trouble, you can prompt them by saying, “This is the letter C! The letter C makes a /c/ sound /c/. Say it with me, /c/ /c/. Great job!”

A fun song I liked to sing with my class during focus letters was, The A says /a/ the A says /a/ every letter makes a sound the A says /a/! Then you can switch it up with whichever letter you are focusing on!

Have your child repeat the process of tracing the letters and practicing on their own as many times as needed until they are comfortable, and feel free to print this resource as many times as you’d like!

If you do not want to keep printing out sheets, consider making them reusable with this easy tip! In my classroom, I would print the two focus letters of the week and place them in dry-erase pocket sheets! Then, students would only need a fine tip dry-erase marker and an eraser to practice all week, and I would not have to print out sheets every day! For at-home use, this allows your child to feel comfortable practicing without worrying about ruining their paper!

If you don’t have any reusable sheets, here’s what I used in my classroom!

These are my favorite markers because they come in fun colors, making the letter tracing more fun!

Letter tracing is a fun and simple way to practice foundational skills and prepare for kindergarten! It does not have to be hard, and you do not have to pay a fortune to practice with your child. Download your free resource now and start tracing. Best of luck!
